What is asexuality in plain words

Asexual is a person who partially or completely has no physical sexual inclination. It is impossible to confuse asexual with antisexual.

Antisexual are people who deny a sexual form of interaction in general. Asexual it is not rejected and take this process in life of other people for granted. At the same time the lack of sex in the life is accepted as standard of behavior in family and a personal relationship. They do not mind sex, just adhere to a position what to live without sex is norm too.

Exists several groups of asexuals

  • People at whom the sexual inclination completely is absent, they do not feel the need for sex and exclude in principle from the life a sexual relationship.
  • Demisexuals – their desire of sexual proximity with the partner arises at the level of psychoemotional attachment. That is they are not capable to feel sexual attraction to the unfamiliar person at all. They can have a proximity only with the person to whom they feel, for example, intellectual attraction.
  • The group of asexual with the lowered sexuality is quite widespread. Such people differ in the weakened libido, and they have with the partner sex only for bringing to it pleasures. For representatives of this group sex is not a pleasure source.
  • The people feeling sexual attraction, but consciously refusing sex life because of the religious or moral beliefs. They are not opponents of sex life, and take any situation for granted: there is a sex – it is normal, there is no sex – it is normal too.

This group of people has the flag representing the four-band image: horizontal black, gray, white and violet strips.

  • The full asexuality is symbolized by a black strip.
  • The partial asexuality is designated by a gray strip. The greyasexual and demisexual having sex for satisfaction of needs of the partner get into this group.
  • The strip of white color symbolizes existence of sexual desire by nature, but these people consciously inhibit the desire on religious or moral beliefs.
  • The violet strip represents community in which people create a cell of society, but sexually are not connected. It is a symbol of the fact that it is possible to live in harmony, to be in such relationship, but to exclude sex.
